Booked Chowkis

Raj Sehgal was born inDelhi in 1970.  He graduated in Commerce and also obtained B.Ed.and M.Com Degrees.  He started his carrier as a Teacher in his own Personal Academic Centre.  In December, 1990, he met Shri Thakur Dass ji who was a Member of Shakti Sewa Mandal, Raghunath Mandir, Krishna Nagar,  Delhi, a non-professional group.  The Group used to hold Chowkis and Jagrans free of cost.  They organized a Vishal (huge) Chowki in Radhunath Mandir, Krishna Nagar,  Delhi on 04 February, 1994. Respected Deva Maa was present in that Chowki.  Raj Sehgal met Respected Deva Maa for the first time and was attracted by her personality.  She inspired him to form a small group with the objectives listed below.

• To hold systematic chowki/Jagran at minimum expense by non-professional group.
• To discourage cash offerings in Chowki/Jagran and worship with flowers only
• To demonstrate old time method of Chowki/Jaagran in brief
• To hold total free Chowki/Jagran for those who cannot afford any expenses at all.

She also asked Raj Sehgal to hold regular Chowki/Jagran for those who could not afford high expenses which were to be incurred to organize a Chowki/Jaagran.  She promised her whole-hearted support for such a group.

On 29^th  April, 1995 the Group called SHREE MAA VAISHNO SEWA MANDAL was formed with the support of Shri Thakur Dass and blessing of Respected Deva Maa.    Originally chowkis were conducted on Tuesdays and Jagrans on Saturdays.  But as demand increased and the waiting period of new booking exceeded over a year, it was decided in 2002 to hold chowkis on other days also.  Till 2011, Raj Sehgal has performed around 4000 Chowki/Jagran.

Raj Sehgal went with respected Deva Maa, in whom he saw the image of MAA BHAGWATI, to various religious places. He now performs more than 400 chowkies/jagran per year under the aeiges of SHREE MAA VAISHNO SEWA MANDAL (regd.)
